Unreasonable @ Sea in Singapore Conference, 20 Feb 2013
A radical experiment to tackle the greatest challenges of our time.
11 world-changing ventures + 20 mentors + 1 ship + 13 countries + 100 days
and 1 belief that entrepreneurship will change the world.
Unreasonable at Sea is a radical experiment in global entrepreneurship, design-thinking, and education, designed to scale-up effective technological solutions to the greatest challenges of our time. We do this by hedging our bets on the most thrifty, resourceful, creative, and disruptive class amongst us: Entrepreneurs. We are a mentor-driven accelerator for tech-entrepreneurs who desire to take their ventures into new international markets to work on intractable social and environmental challenges. We can think of no better way to accelerate these companies‘ ability to scale across borders than to put them all on one ship, together with some of the world’s greatest mentors, and set sail over more than 25,000 nautical miles spanning 13 countries over the course of 100 days. We have unprecedented partnered with Stanford d.school, Google, MIT Media Labs, Singularity University, TED Fellows, and numerous others to make this a most incredible expedition.
This February 2013, Unreasonable at Sea will visit Singapore as its seventh port-of-call.
Wednesday 20 Feb 2013 at INSEAD Asia Campus
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man [and woman].”
- George Bernard Shaw
If George Bernard Shaw is right, if all progress depend on the unreasonable person, than we cannot afford to not bet on unreasonable people, by supporting and accelerating the growth of the world’s most unreasonable tech-entrepreneurs (i.e. those hellbent on solving the hardest problem-sets of the 21st century and who will settle for nothing less than global scale).
At their premier event in Singapore, the entrepreneurial founders of the 11 Unreasonable@Sea companies and their global mentors will meet with experts and entrepreneurs from the social, high-technology, venture, philanthropic, industry and public sectors in Singapore. These are unparalleled communities who will share their deep expertise and experience, and opportunities to forge collaborations to develop, design and drive solutions for our global social and environmental challenges. The programme includes keynotes, talks by faculty of INSEAD, the founder of Stanford design school, and exceptional opportunities to connect and converse with the veteran global mentors and companies of Unreasonable@Sea.
